Increased viability of encapsulated plant growth promoting microbials in reinforced immobilized capsules

With a recent shift in preference of biological products over chemical seed treatments very few commercial microbial products are available for application. Two of the biggest challenges to the industry are stability and compatibility. In this study, SWEL technology was used to stabilize microbials for on-seed application with chemical seed coatings. Tests of the SWEL technology show increased viability over a three-month period in comparison to encapsulated microbials without SWEL with little to no viability when exposed to chemical seed coatings.
